Random items of note...

1. Tonight is the season finale of Merlin and I'm kind of ridiculously excited about it. I haven't liked every episode of the second season/series, but there have been some great moments and I'm hoping that things will come together in the last episode tonight. Plus, there is going to be a third series/season and that makes me very happy. :)

2. Next week is the last Dr. Who special with David Tennant as the Doctor and I'm getting a little sad about it. I haven't been as much into the DW fandom this year as I should've been, (Journey's End really did a number on me and it still lingers in a lot of ways), but I am going to watch this last special and, hopefully, have some coherent commentary to offer afterwards.

3. Why is that the "kid's shows" that I watch on BBC are some of the darkest, angst-filled, and most fucked-up shows I've ever seen? I thought Dr. Who was pretty bad, but Merlin has joined the crazy ranks as well, and it kind of amazes me what the writers and producers can get away with on these shows. Is it an English/BBC thing or is it something else? *very curious*

4. Just have a couple other Christmas gifts to buy and then I should be done. (I think). Also, as a Christmas gift to myself, I bought Lady Gaga's The Fame Monster special edition CD, (that has both the original album and the new EP), and both of We The Kings' albums. Loving all of the new music so far. :)

5. I need to work on my website stuff in the upcoming week and finish the rest of my to-do list. I honestly want to finish most of that list before the beginning of 2010.

Off to finish this project for my mom and, possibly, play on the Wii.

My mom finally finished the second series/season of DW.

And she cried.

(Just a bit).

She figured that Rose wasn't in the next season, (and I told her that Rose wasn't), but then I told my mom that she might be happy with certain events that might occur in the current 4th series/season. So, she's TIVOing the Sci-fi channel tonight and I'm going to work on getting those 3rd season DVDs soon.

And I have to wish a very happy, happy birthday to my friend Hope, as well as extend birthday wishes to my two favorite actors named David, (who will never see this post, but I don't care).

Thank you David Hewlett for the goofy blog posts and pictures, your enthusiasm for the sci-fi genre, and your ability to make me love, (and occasionally be annoyed by), a fantastic, flawed character, such as Rodney.

Thank you David Tennant for being passionate about your job, your interesting fashion choices, your fabulous sense of humor and your ability to make me an unabashed Dr. Who fan over forty years after the show first premiered.

*hugs all around*

It's funny how moods can shift. And sometimes it doesn't take much for me.

Some things that made me happy this weekend:

1. Finally watching my copy of Learners.

*squee*

This was such a lovely, lovely movie and I heartily recommend it to everybody. At the moment, I think you can only see/buy it in the UK, but hopefully they will show it soon in the States, (possibly on BBC America). I asked my sister to buy it for me, because David Tennant was in it, but I ended up loving it for so many other reasons as well. DT is amazing in it, (of course), but so is Jessica Hynes, (who is brilliant and beautiful and funny as hell), and Shaun Dingwall, (who makes you believe in his character, even when he is a bit of a slacker). I wasn't quite sure about the movie at first, because it just throws you right into these characters' lives, but you eventually figure out what's going on. And then it's just all good drama and funny interactions between characters and emotional highs and lows and some really, really good acting. It's the kind of movie that leaves you feeling all warm and fuzzy at the end and makes you want to pop it back in, the next time you're in a bad mood.

Oh! It truly is brilliant and you should check out more about it at the Amazon.co.uk link. :)

2. Watching the Bucs, (oh, my crazy team), win the NFC South Division title and make history by scoring the first kickoff return touchdown in franchise history. I hadn't realized that we were the last team in the NFL to never have done this before. I felt bad for the Atlanta Falcons, (ermm...they haven't had the best of seasons and this past week really sucked ass for them as well), but I'm still a Bucs fan first and foremost, so I was happy that my team has a good position for the play-offs now and I just hope they make something of it this year.

Oh, how I love American football. :)

3. Having really great parents. Having really great friends. Knowing I'll be okay, regardless of where I live or what I do. Finding that kernel of optimism deep inside and doing my best to bring it more to the surface.

That sort of thing. ;)

*My sister is absolutely fabulous and wonderful and fantastic. Why, may you ask? Because she is going to buy me the latest Radio Times that has David Tennant and Peter Davison on the cover for the new DW Children in Need spot. *squee* I might also possibly get The Learners DVD for my birthday.

Seriously, I love DT like crazy and this just makes me so very happy. :) Thank you, Nat.

*Managed to make a few important phone calls today, but I still haven't heard back from my ex-boss at JKP. This is something that is bothering me, especially since I know that a specific reference from her and from JKP will help tremendously in my job search. *sigh*

*This cold snap/spell of ours is still holding on and I'm utterly amazed. *yah for cold weather in Florida* It's just so damn rare. ;)

*Actually got outside and found a place to exercise today. Walked in a local park for about 30 minutes with my sister and it felt pretty good. I have a goal in mind for how much weight I would like to lose, but ultimately I just really want to get back into shape. I hate feeling lumpy and out of sorts most of the time. *crossing fingers I'll actually keep this up*

*My sister and I plan on going to a local spa tomorrow for a treatment. My mom got free passes from someone she works with and we decided we might as well use them before they expire. I just hope the treatment doesn't make me break out or that I have an allergic reaction to it. My skin is so bloody sensitive, it's not even funny.

*Going to buy Hot Fuzz and Driving Lessons tomorrow. *lovely, lovely British films*

*Looked up some new jobs today, organized a few of my online job sections and also looked at a few London listings. *cough* I know it's not even remotely feasible at the moment, but I can't help but look, from time to time. I also need to look at part-time copyediting/editing jobs here in Tampa, because any kind of experience I can rack up while looking for jobs in NY would definitely help. And as lovely as my job at Hallmark is, I will not cry too much when I finally leave, (really, as with most of my previous jobs, it's the people I work with that I will miss the most).

*Even though I do not have much money at all, (and, yes, I know I shouldn't be buying those movies tomorrow, but...ah, well), I'm also seriously considering buying a couple of DVDs from Amazon.co.uk. Because I really, really want to watch Learners with David Tennant, (eta: though I'll have to wait another month or so, since it's not even officially out on DVD or has even apparently aired on BBC yet. I love how the Brits will release DVDs for TV specials/shows within a couple of weeks of it airing. It actually makes a lot of sense, since it's fresh in people's minds when they are out shopping). *such a sad fangirl, I know*

*I really didn't need to find out that David Tennant wears glasses in real life. It's bad enough when he puts them on as the Doctor, but in real life too? *guh* So wrong. (like I needed another reason to lust after the man. Really must watch his video diaries on my DVDs).

Also, check out this clip from a series of Q&A interviews that he did recently. He admits to being a bit of a history nerd and makes a fantastic joke/comment about the Beatles and a dinosaur.

Tennant Talks

Seriously? I could not love the man more, if I tried. ;)

*So many things I need to do before this weekend. So much cleaning and shopping and organizing to do. But, it'll be worth it. *can't wait* :)

*I'm working my way through a re-read of OOTP and, hopefully, I'll be able to get to HBP before the 21st of July. I'm kind of looking forward to CAPSLOCK rage Harry again. *snort* I also need to figure out where I want to buy my copy of DH soon.

*Okay, off to cut my fingernails and possibly shave my legs before bed. Necessary evils and all that. :)

I wanted to wish a happy belated birthday to both [livejournal.com profile] aylaranzz and [livejournal.com profile] musicdiamond. It sounds like you both had a good time and I hope the upcoming year brings you whatever you're wishing for. :)

eta: I almost forgot to wish a belated happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] thistlerose as well. I love your fics. I love how much you adore Scotland. And I always enjoy reading your journal. My goal is to provide you a multitude of fics to make up for missing out on your birthday, among other things. I hope the upcoming year gives you what you deserve and want. :)

It amazes me sometimes how quickly I can become obsessed with certain things, while others I feel rather "meh" about. Once again, I'm proving myself to be a multi-fandom fangirl and the past couple of days have been all about David Tennant. I've bought his TV dramas, "Casanova", "Blackpool" and the "Quatermass Experiment". I've saved a ton of new icons from the Dr. Who Christmas Invasion Special. I've started reading interviews with the man and downloading video clips. I desperately wanted a TV, last Sat. nite, because of the "Romantics" program he was supposed to be on. I almost saw GOF again in the theaters, not because it was HP-related or even because of Rupert Grint, but because of Barty Crouch, Jr. Guh. I love the man's Scottish accent and his self-deprecating humor and those eyes, and how completely dorky and fanboyish he is over playing Doctor Who. Speaking of, I can not wait until the new series starts and I know I'll probably be gushing all the way when it does. (In regards to Dr. Who...I may jump on the bandwagon a bit late, but I'm always completely involved once I do).

So, yah, I'm a bit enthralled with the man at the moment, you could say. ;)

That and Stargate: Atlantis

oh and also film adaptations of Oscar Wilde plays.

And I'm really missing seeing Hugh Laurie on House and Dom on Lost. (reminder to self: poke parents to work on copying those DVDs soon).
